1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Dubzoic (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you visit www.dubzoic.net, use our browser-based audio tools, interact with embedded media, or contact us.

This policy is designed to meet the transparency requirements of:

  • the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Italian privacy law (Codice privacy, D.Lgs. 196/2003 as amended);
  • the UK GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018;
  • the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), where applicable.

Our Terms and Conditions of Use govern your use of the online audio tools. This Privacy Policy governs how we handle personal data. If there is any inconsistency regarding privacy, this Privacy Policy prevails.

This document is provided for general information purposes and does not constitute legal advice.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • visitors and users of www.dubzoic.net;
  • users of our live online audio tools (including but not limited to the Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Bass, and Dub Siren generators published under /machines/);
  • anyone who contacts us by email or through website forms;
  • interactions with cookies, analytics, and similar technologies on our website.

It does not apply to third-party websites linked from our pages (for example social networks, streaming platforms, or video hosts). Those services have their own privacy policies.

3. Summary — the most important points

  • Audio synthesis runs locally in your browser. We do not receive or store the sounds you create in real time through the generators unless a feature explicitly says otherwise.
  • We use Matomo for website analytics, subject to your cookie/consent choices where required by law.
  • We load fonts and icons from third-party CDNs (Google Fonts, Font Awesome via Cloudflare). Those providers may process technical data such as your IP address when your browser requests those files.
  • Preset sharing encodes knob settings in the page URL you choose to share. Anyone with the link can see those settings.
  • We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not use cross-context behavioural advertising based on personal data collected through our generators.

4. Our online audio tools (WP Dubzoic machines)

Dubzoic provides free, browser-based sound-design tools described in our Terms and Conditions. Current public tools include, among others:

4.1 Local audio processing

The generators use the browser’s built-in Web Audio API to synthesize and process sound on your device. Under normal use:

  • audio is generated and played locally;
  • exported WAV files are created on your device and downloaded by you;
  • we do not upload your audio output to our servers as part of standard generator operation.

4.2 MIDI and computer keyboard input

If you connect a MIDI controller or use the on-screen / computer keyboard, MIDI note and velocity data are handled inside your browser to trigger sounds. We do not operate a separate account system for the generators and do not require registration to use them.

4.3 Presets, import/export, and URL sharing

The tools may let you:

  • Export presets as .json files to your device;
  • Import presets from files you select locally;
  • Share presets via URL, which adds generator parameter values to the address bar (query string). If you copy or publish that URL, anyone with the link can read the encoded settings. Shared links are not private.

These features do not by themselves send preset data to Dubzoic servers. However, if you visit a shared URL, our website analytics (Matomo) may record that a page was viewed, as with any other page visit.

4.4 Tool-related analytics (product improvement)

We may collect anonymous, aggregate information about how the tools are used (for example: which generator was opened, share/export actions, or parameter statistics) to maintain and improve the service. Where implemented, such processing is designed not to identify individual users and not to store audio content. This is separate from Matomo website analytics described in Section 7.

5. Personal data we may collect

“Personal data” means information relating to an identified or identifiable individual. Depending on how you use the site, we may process:

Category Examples Source
Technical / usage data IP address (possibly truncated/anonymised), browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, date/time, approximate location (derived from IP), cookie identifiers Automatically when you visit the site; Matomo; server logs
Cookie / consent data Your cookie preferences, consent timestamps Cookie banner / consent management tool
Contact data Name, email address, message content, attachments you send voluntarily When you email us or use a contact form
Generator URL parameters Knob/preset values in shared links (?k_frequency=55 etc.) Visible in URLs you create or visit; not stored by us unless logged incidentally in server/analytics logs

We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data (for example health data) through the generators. Please do not send us sensitive information unless necessary.

Accounts: The public audio tools do not require user registration. If we add accounts or newsletters in the future, we will update this policy and request consent where required.

6. How we use personal data

We use personal data to:

  • provide, operate, secure, and maintain the website and audio tools;
  • understand how visitors use our pages and tools (analytics);
  • remember your cookie/consent choices;
  • load fonts, icons, and other technical assets;
  • respond to enquiries and support requests;
  • detect abuse, fraud, or technical problems;
  • comply with legal obligations;
  • improve our products and user experience.

We do not use generator audio output for advertising profiling.

7. Legal bases for processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

Processing activity Legal basis
Essential website operation, security, fraud prevention Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) and, where applicable, contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Strictly necessary cookies / storage Legitimate interests or contract
Analytics (Matomo) and statistics cookies Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where required; otherwise legitimate interests with appropriate safeguards (e.g. IP anonymisation, opt-out)
Responding to your emails / contact requests Legitimate interests and/or pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(f)/(b))
Legal compliance Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c))

You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

Like most websites, www.dubzoic.net uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) to operate the site, remember preferences, and measure traffic.

When you first visit, you may see a cookie consent banner (“Gestisci consenso”) allowing you to accept, reject, or manage categories such as Functional, Preferences, Statistics, and Marketing. Non-essential cookies should only be placed in line with your choices and applicable law.

8.1 Matomo Analytics

We use Matomo to analyse website traffic and improve our content and tools.

Depending on configuration, Matomo may process:

  • pages visited (including machine/generator pages);
  • referring websites;
  • browser and device information;
  • date and time of visits;
  • IP address (we aim to use IP anonymisation where technically enabled: [CONFIRM IN MATOMO ADMIN]);
  • pseudo-anonymous visitor identifiers via cookies such as _pk_id, _pk_ses (exact names depend on configuration).

Matomo hosting: [SELF-HOSTED AT: URL / HOSTING PROVIDER] OR [MATOMO CLOUD — EU REGION IF APPLICABLE]

Opt-out: You can refuse statistics cookies in our consent banner. You may also use Matomo’s opt-out mechanism if enabled on our site: [INSERT MATOMO OPT-OUT IFRAME OR LINK IF AVAILABLE].

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as:

  • European Commission adequacy decisions;
  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs);
  • provider certifications and supplementary measures where applicable.
